Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation – The Lowdown

I am always on the hunt for new, good coverage foundation that stays in place all day! You and me both says you! To my surprize, I can categorical state that the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation does all of these things! I bought the foundation in my local Penney’s for a purse friendly €7.90 and I, without a doubt will be repurchasing!

If I am honest I did not think it was going to be good as it turned out. This is just down to the fact that most budget foundations, just don’t do oily/combination skin any justice! It normally goes on poorly and slides off within a couple of hours but not this foundation!

Before I wrote this post, I made sure that I used it numerous times, from nights out to all day wear and it has not let me down yet.

The above states all the pro’s for the Catrice HD Liquid Foundation, however, like most products there is always at least one negative….or is that an Irish thing! For me there are just two issues; there are only 4 shades in the range and using setting powder over the foundation is a no go! I would also say that you need a good hydrating base if you suffer from dry or dehydrated skin. Even though I have oily skin, I need to use a good hydrating base for it to sit nicely and not sink into the wrinkles 😉

Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation – Shade Range

The foundation has only been on the market a few months and I am hoping that with all the rave reviews, that Catrice may consider adding to their colour range. At present their are 4 shades: Light Beige, Rose Beige, Sand Beige and Warm Beige.

I was lucky enough that the light beige was fine for me, once I brought it down my neck! Unfortunately, I am sure not everyone is going to be as lucky and even though you can use various ways to lighten it or darken, most of us don’t want the hassle.

Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation – Packaging

I love the Catrice Packaging as a rule, it is always so clean and compact. I always think it looks more expensive then it actually is! The bottle is nice and small so perfect if you tend to do your makeup away from the house, it takes up less space. It also has a dropper which I was not sure about at first but its ideal for dispensing the right amount.

I use my NIMA Kabuki Brush (checkout my review HERE) to buff it into my skin after I have prepped with a hydrating moisturizer and primer. I find that using this brush and bouncing it into the skin and then buffing it out gives it the best finish on my skin. If I am having a particularly bad skin day, I will dampen a beauty blender and go over the area that I need more coverage. This helps even out the foundation over the lumps and bumps.

Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation – Consistency & Swatch

As you can see from the below image, the foundation is very thin and fluid. I prefer it this way as I find that it is easier to build the coverage to the desired effect. Surprisingly it dries quite fast, so you need to work quick. The hydrating base is essential to prevent the foundation looking dry and leaving the skin uncomfortable.

Overall I am pretty impressed with the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation! Its not perfect but its the best out of the budget brands I have used to date. It last the majority of the day if I use a setting spray, which I generally do as using powder over this foundation does not look good on me. It makes it kind of of cakey looking. For €7.90 though I am not complaining.

I hope you found this review helpful, if you did or have any questions or thoughts let me know!

  1. This looks fab Yvonne, have heard so many great things about this foundation It’s a bit too dark for me so hopefully Catrice will bring it out in some Celtic shades too.

  2. I’d love for them to do more shades especially for is paler girls. I’m super pale and I just get very frustrated either having to mix my shades or bring them down my neck and hope for the best! Packaging is always good with Catrice too. X

  3. I love that this looks more expensive than what it is and it’s great given you great coverage. Good product to watch out for 🙂
