So on to Challenge 4 – dress up in fancy dress and leave the house!! I know sounds so silly but I have never done it! I have dressed up for my 30th birthday but in the safety of own house, without fear of judgment from others outside of my friends and family. I have to say it was great fun and we had a brilliant night so I am delighted I am going to do it again….just a bit anxious that it is tomorrow and I have nothing got and trying to figure out what I can use of my own 🙂
The reason I am dressing up? and no I am not randomly heading to the bar all dressed up in fancy dress gear, could you imagine though? I am however attending the Music, Movies and TV Table Quiz which will be held in Darcy’s pub the 12th of February to help raise funds for two local ladies Sarah Curran and Sinead Scullion, who are going to Vietnam volunteering their skills and time to raise awareness of special needs in the local communities.
As you can imagine it is not cheap task. They are contributing to the costs themselves but they are hoping that their fundraising and sponsorship efforts will help alleviate the high costs of €6595 to cover the flights, placement fee, visas, travel vaccinations and kit costs. Their first fundraiser is the quiz where you have the option to dress up as your favorite Music, Movie or TV star but it is not a requirement to attend:) However if I can do it so can you! It promises to be a great night full of fun, frolics and alcohol with some music and food thrown in too. You can register your table of 4 on the night and the cost is €20, you can also purchase raffle tickets for the prizes on offer. You can check out the event details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1711065852463655/
As I type this post, I am also on Facebook looking for a leather top, so anyone reading, can you help me out?? I am thinking of going as Kate Beckinsale as Selene from underworld as I have black boots and a leather type pants but no top!! Ah the creativity gene is really missing I have no other ideas so please comment any suggestions of where I could get a leather top locally or maybe another suggestion of whom to dress up as!
I am being very humorous and flippant about this challenge but really it will take its toll…Leaving the house on my own, walking in on my own and at this point hoping that someone will let me join their team as I am going solo……all things I would never have done in a million years before now.
I have to say, that once you put it out there, and say that you are going on your own and don’t feel very comfortable about the idea, people are great at spurring you on.
If you can’t make it you can buy raffle tickets before the event through this page: https://www.facebook.com/Vietnam-fundraiser-2016-1660381260889896/?fref=ts
or/and donate through the following link: http://www.myprojectsabroad.org/fundraising/bOGLyK
If you are going I look forward to seeing you and please if you have a spare place on your team let me join 😉 oh and have a brilliant time.
I will fill you in after the event and post loads of pictures.
