Cork Fashion Trail

Cork Fashion Feature Picture

I had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Cork Fashion Trail on Saturday the 4th of March. The day was planned out for us, from start to finish thanks to the lovely Marie Barry-Murphy who organised the day.

Cork Fashion Trail Stop 1 – Opera Lane

Cork fashion Opera Lane

As per the plan, first up we had pastries and Coffee at Starbuck while browsing some of Opera Lane finest offerings. The wonderful Natasha Crowley (Personal Stylist for Opera Lane) went through all the key trends for S/S 17. Frayed deconstructed denim is here to stay. There are so many styles out there, you can definitely find one that works for you. Pink is the key colour this season and who doesn’t love a pop of pink! The same goes for the men; guys don’t be afraid to wear more muted pink tones. Also Stripes and Leopard print work well together; it may sound out of your comfort zone but give it a go and you could be surprised.

Opera Lane has a great selection of stores which include; H&M, Top Shop, ONLY, River Island and New Look to name just a few. For a full list of Stores checkout their website

You can also book in with Natasha for a free 2 hour personal styling session. Natasha will take on board your lifestyle and body shape and help you pick out clothing to suit. All you have to do is fill in a short questionnaire before meeting with Natasha so that she can get a feel of what it is you’re looking for. I am definitely going to this, I think we all can get stuck in a rut! If this sounds like something you would be interested in check it out HERE

Cork Fashion Trail Stop 2 – Olori Boutique

Cork fashion olori boutique

Olori Boutique on Oliver Plunket Street is a high end fashion boutique and is the place to go to pick up a timeless essential. The clothes were beautifully cut, high quality and just to die for! I mean don’t get me wrong I love a high street bargain, especially for trends that I know will pass as quick as they come in. That said sometimes it is worth spending that bit more for a classic piece of tailoring that you will get numerous wears out and get your return on investment.

When I walked into the store the first thing I said was “it smells divine in here” and that was down to the Alchimista Parfum they also stock. I can not explain how good they smelt but I know it is officially on my wish list!

Cork Fashion Trail Stop 3 – Miss Daisy Blue Vintage

Cork fashion Daisy Blue

If vintage is your thing then you need to pop into Miss Daisy Blue. They have a range from the 1930’s to the 1980’s and the prices vary accordingly. They also have a fabulous range of wedding dresses that can be viewed on appointment.

There store itself was cosy with a cool vintage vibe. You could spend the day in their going through the rails! If I wanted something for an occasion and wanted to make sure it was a once off, this is where I would head.

Cork Fashion Trail Stop 4 – Saville Menswear

Cork fashion Saville menswear

I don’t think I ever been in such a large menswear store that covers everything from casual, to tailored along with custom made items. My husband is a jeans and t-shirt type of guy so these are not shops I frequent regularly lol.

The selection was amazing and I urge any man who is tagging along with the other half to pop in for a look. Ladies, the stair case alone is reason enough for you to accompany them. Get up on the steps and get a picture like I did 😉

Cork Fashion Trail Stop 5 – Shoe Lounge

Cork fashion The Shoe Lounge

Now this was Shoe heaven! I fell in love with all the loafers and I am generally a heel lover. They were just pretty and they had a great selection. They also stock the kardashian range for those that are interested.

I have to say that my favourite element of this store is that they have a changing room! I mean you can bring in your outfit and try on a million shoes if you need to. Now this idea I love, sometimes it is hard to envision the perfect shoe after you have bought an outfit. Not anymore!

The also have a great selection of Guess bags and wallets so you are sorted for your outfit accessories as well.

Cork Fashion Trail Stop 6 – Dukes Café

Cork fashion Dukes Coffee company

I am not going to lie, I am not a lover of sandwiches. I mean they are grand if I am stuck or I get a mad craving for one but it’s not my first choice.

Well I can tell you, Dukes Café have converted me. I ate sandwiches with fillings I wouldn’t ever consider ordering and they were divine! No joke; I ate double my body weight and if I thought I could have got away with it, I would have taken home a doggie bag lol.

On top of this I am a cappuccino fiend and the one I got in Dukes was one of the nicest I have had in a long time. Next time I am down in Cork; in the words of the terminator “I’ll be back”

Cork Fashion Trail Stop 7 – Phoenix_V

Cork fashion phoenix v

When you walk into Phoenix_V it scream class! From the cascading flower display which was so beautiful to the large white room filled with gorgeous dresses. The dresses were laid out by colour, which makes it so easy when you have a distinct colour in mind.

I noticed that the majority of the dresses were very structured especially in the chest area and also quite long. If your small like me alternations would be needed but they do this all in store. Their collections range from size 6-16, however, they can custom make any dress to suit your body shape and size.

If you are looking for that special occasion dress, then Phoenix_V has to be on your list!

Cork Fashion Trail Stop 8 – Swarovski

Cork fashion swarovski

I could have spent all day in here looking at all the beautiful jewellery. I was very surprised to see it was not as expensive as I thought it may be. The black stone items were so gorgeous, I was just drawn to them.

My favourite had to the diamond shape ring in the picture below. It was so unusual and sparkly, a real investment piece.

Cork Fashion Trail Stop 9 – Athletes Foot

The last stop of the day for me was Athletes foot (we had to get home but the others went on to the clarion for food and cocktails). Athletes foot in Cork was the first store opening of the franchise in Ireland. Their main ethos is looking stylish and trendy while working out or playing game!

I am not a big purchaser of Athletic wear to be fair, except for runners (to walk the dogs, it’s as much exercise as I do lol). They had some great bargains on the day and the foot wear was very trendy!

All in all I had a great day at the Cork Fashion Trail. The 20 bloggers were all lovely and we had a great time going from shop to shop. Their was such a variety of stores which meant there was something for everyone. All the retailers were so lovely and welcoming. They spoiled us rotten!

I also thought I would add my outfit of the day – top to toe in Penneys 😉
