How to Create a Chignon Bun in Minutes

If you are like me you are always looking for easy ways to style your hair, whether it is for that important interview, a night out or to attend a wedding. Well this hairstyle is the one for you! It takes max 10 minutes for the untrained to achieve this look (5 if you have some skills) and if I can do it then you certainly can!
Niall Colgan kindly let me into his beautiful salon on O’Callaghan Strand so that I could get a pro to create the look and explain how to achieve it.
Up steps the lovely Siobhan who created a chignon in 3 easy steps which took only 5 minutes. It really is so easy and since my visit I have recreated it myself a few times since with no difficulty.
Step 1: Gather your hair into a low loose ponytail and with your finger make a parting above the hair tie.
Step 2: While leaving two fingers in the gap created in step 1, pull the ponytail up towards your head and with your two fingers pull it down through the gap. Your hair will look like the top right picture.
Step 3: Pull the rest of the hair up over the gap created in step 1 and secure with bobby pins and you’re done!
There is many ways you can finish off the look, you could add a hairband, a flower at the back or simply leave a strand of hair at the front like Siobhan did on our beautiful model Mandy.
I want to take the time to thank Niall, Siobhan and Mandy for kindly giving me their time to complete this piece for both my Limerick Life Beauty Column and the blog. I also want to say that Niall Colgan Hairdressing studio is one of the most beautiful salons I have ever visited. You get specialty coffee and get fed,now I don’t know what else you would want really!
Please let me know if you recreate the look. you can let me know through my social media channels below or here on the blog. I look forward to hearing your feedback xx
