I am actually obsessed with ruffles and frills at the moment. You can pick pieces that are just ruffle fantastic or pieces with just a small element of ruffle all depending on your taste and preference. Ruffles give off the vibe of ethereal romance in my opinion!
What comes to my mind is floaty floral dresses, beautiful added detail and soft pastel colours. If feminine lines are not really your thing you can still rock this trend by pairing it with denim, adding some mesh detail to it or going for piece with a more structured feel.
However you style it you will bang on trend!

Ruffles and Frills – The Dresses
I could have put in a million dresses into the post as there are so many to choose from! I kept it to the four that I loved the most and it was a hard choice.
First up is this pretty tea length floral dress. This would be beautiful for a summer wedding or for that special night out on your holidays. If you don’t like your arms, the long sleeves will cover them while showing your glistening sun kissed shoulders.
Pair it with a leather jacket to give it a more grungy, street style vibe.
Do I even need to say anything? I just love this blush pink number for a summer occasion. I see a wedding guest at a beach wedding looking absolutely beautiful. I am an old romantic at heart don’t you know 😉
I love me a bit of quirky and this dress just screams different! The red bib style ruffle and this ticks the boxes for those who may like a less feminine ruffle piece. I love the white collar and cuff detail it just finishes off the dress. It also could be doubled up as a shirt so you are getting your moneys worth!
This simple wrap dress comes in 3 different colours and is perfect for a summer night out. Wrap dresses are so flattering for those that are more of an apple shape. If like me you lack in the chest department; don’t be put off! A stitch/pin or boob tape will keep you from exposing yourself lol
Ruffles and Frills – The Playsuit/Jumpsuit
I love the sleeves on this playsuit, the two tier ruffle is making me feel warm inside! This is the perfect piece to take on your holidays. You can style for a night out with heels or style it down with a pair of flats for daytime. It also covers the pink trend I spoke about last week (if you missed it you can read it HERE)
I feel in love with this light wash denim jumpsuit as soon as I seen it. It is a bit pricey but this piece will carry you well into autumn and longer. Add a long sleeve t-shirt underneath and again a leather jacket over it.
Also the ruffle detail is not over the top which means it wont sit in the back of our wardrobe unloved, once the trend phases out.
Ruffles and Frills – The Jackets
I am actually dying for this jacket! As I already said above I love a bit of quirky and this is right up my alley! Yes the sleeves are not the most practical but who cares! I would live in this blazer for events and nights out, it would add to any outfit.
I am obviously loving all things light wash in denim! You can tick off another trend of denim on denim like the picture above. If that is not your thing; this jacket is the perfect accompaniment to any dress or two piece combo.
Ruffles and Frills – Tops
I love this cold shouldered long sleeved jumper. It is the perfect top for a more casual laid back look paired with jeans. Yet if you were having a last minute night out swap the flats for a strappy high heel and add a couple of necklaces.
This top and particular this colour is just so nice and versatile. As above, pair it with a leather skirt but you could pair it with white jeans, linen trousers or with fitted trousers.
Ruffles and Frills – Work Wear
I wanted to add in a work wear piece for this trend. I find when I read other post, none ever take in those of us, in an average 9-5 job that requires a more toned down look. I am always looking for new ways to update my work wardrobe as outside of my PJ’s this is what I wear the most!
That said, some trends you just can’t take into the office but not when it comes to ruffles and frills! I find that work clothing can get quite boring especially if you’re in a more corporate environment. However this shirt is still understated but adds a little something to your typical black pants – white shirt combo.
This gorgeous black cardigan is also perfect for work. You could pop this over a tailored dress for work and pop on a pair of jeans and heels after work for a more casual look. It also has a bell sleeve which I am just loving at the moment!
So that’s a wrap on this weeks What’s on Trend instalment.
If there is any trend you would like me to talk about next, let me know in the comments or on my social media.
Until next time
