Top 5 Multi-Purpose Beauty Products

As featured in Limerick Life Newspaper 13th of July

I am sure like me, you like nothing better than getting the best value for your money. There are many multi-purpose beauty products out there but not all deliver on their all-round promise. Over the years I have learned which ones work for me and the following 5 products come up trumps.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse OilNuxe-Huile-Prodigieuse-Oil-puttingitoutthere-ie

This oil is simply amazing and is truly a multi-purpose product which is suitable for skin (face and body), hair and nails! It is perfect if you suffer from dry skin or frizzy hair and the smell is also divine. I use it on my face (only the dry patches) at night and on waking, my skin feels amazing. You can use it as part of your morning routine as well but for my skin type it would be too much. I use it on the ends of my hair to tame any flyaway, especially if I have curled it. I also use it on my nail cuticles with the residue that is left from using it on my hair/face. It retails at €32 in Boots but is worth it as it goes a long way and reduces the amount of different products I need to buy.

Coconut Oil

You could not complete a list of multi-purpose products without mentioning coconut oil! When I initially researched coconut oil; I found at least 66 different uses for it. I generally use it as a makeup remover, a moisturizer, a hair mask, lip balm and skin softener for feet (leave on overnight). It can however be mixed with other household products to make facial scrubs, facial cleanser and shaving foam. If you plan to use coconut oil on your face, I would recommend that you but a good quality unrefined and organic brand.

Like Coconut Oil, Vaseline goes hand in hand with multi-purpose. I am sure you are aware of the more common uses of Vaseline, but I have found other uses for it over the years. I use it mixed with some bronzing powder to give a nice glowy sheen to my legs, as a highlighter, smear it on my pulse points before spraying my perfume to make the scent last longer and lastly I mix it with pigment to make a DIY lip balm, eye shadow or blush.

Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar 2 Blush/Bronzer and Highlighter Palette

This palette has become a makeup must have, for me this summer. The palette is made up of 8 different powders, 4 which are shimmery and 4 which are matt. The different powders can be used as a highlighter, bronzer, blush, to contour and as an eye shadow. The best bit; the palette retails at €9 and can be purchased locally in Limerick at Hogan’s Pharmacy HERE or Superdrug.

Translucent Powder

I have picked up a few other uses for translucent powder other than using it to set your makeup, a very important step especially if you have oily skin. You can also use this as an alternative to dry shampoo as it is designed to soak up excess oil. A little pinch goes a long way! You can also apply it to your lashes in between coats of mascara for clump free, super-sized lashes. Last but not least you can dust it to your lips before and after lipstick application for all day staying power. I personally use Catrice Nude Illusion Translucent Powder, it’s amazing and retails at €5.50.

Do you agree? What are your top multi-purpose products?
